ROBBED IN MY YARD
This is me
A refugee in my yard
Let me tell you the genesis
They came, asked
Asked for refuge in my yard
Pay and stay
As long as your pay lasts
That is me.
They looked green
At first
But as we continued
Staying together in my beautiful
yard
They started looking pale and red
My water become theirs
Ask them before quenching
Another yard owner has come
Who be it?
The Gardner
The caretaker
The co-owners
Now a shield to the refugees
I sheltered .
They paid, stayed and started
slaying.
I see slain in my own yard.
The stay goes with the pay
So does what goes around
They have overstayed
Because of my kindness
I get blows asking the pay
Eat peanuts and stay
watching them eating butter
under my shade
Is what I do now in my yard.
